Night was creeping slowly upon the travails of the dusty, gold hued stag. His steps were labored, the steps of a traveller who had stretched himself to far in his aims. Even so, the beast remained alert, crown held high, harks pricked, keeping his senses netted over his surroundings. The terrain began to level as he moved, and a faint shadow seemed to lay over the horizon ahead, barely distinct against the shroud of twilight. The tired stallion paused briefly to study it. There was little to be told from the barest of winds, nor did their seem to be movement ahead. Electing to continue, he studied it as the space between them lessened. Less distorted by the impending darkness, it became evident that the shadow was in fact a forest. It appeared to be safe; there was no sound or scent of any being beyond those common to a forest living- birds, squirrels, and the like. As well, it had an inviting aura, the thick, green boughs sturdy and connected by thick vines. Almost like a hideout. Or, the brute though, at least a place to find solace from the brutal routine of travels. As he came to the thresh hold of the place, Cae snorted, yet again seeking life. None came to him. For a moment, he paused, lingering at the edge, simply existing in the time.

"I shall claim this as my own land."

His voice was rather haggard, wear showing in his rough syllables, but he was of no small stature or faint natured, and it was appealing to consider having a place he could call his own, where he could outlaw unrest and hatred and naivete. Perhaps in doing so, he might have the luck of finding a kindred spirit or two, something he had rarely come across in his short life span. Moving into the forest through a needle thing deer path, he simply looked over that which he had claimed, until the soft rumbles of water reached him. This was more than enough motivation to lift his pace, and it took him mere minutes to reach the serviceable pool that had built up in the midst of a stream. A soft sound of pleasure escaped his maw, and he set upon it, sating his insistent thirst. It seemed he had indeed made a profitable decision in calling this place his own.
